After 22 years in marketing, I know firsthand that you do NOT have to do everything the gurus say in order to build a great busienss, especially if you're a local professional.
In fact, you'll be more successful if you don't try to do everything online.
This is especially true with the way the internet is in 2026, with AI and constant "noise" eroding trust (and, let's face it, our attention spans!)

Converting Marketing for Real People: Our Marketing Principles
Marketing should be Affordable. It's very easy to waste a lot of time and money on marketing that doesn't move the needle. I believe that free and low-cost marketing should be tried before we spend a single red penny on ads.
Marketing should be Accountable. We can't track everything in marketing (and maybe we shouldn't!), but we can track what counts: your relationships.
Who's subscribed, who are you talking to, who are your clients, who are your referral sources. This is the foundation of a business that leaves a legacy.
Marketing should be Authentic. I don't believe in "faceless" marketing. Your prospects should be able to read your website, engage with your content, read your book, etc and feel like they know, like, and trust you before they ever make that first phone call.
Marketing should be Ethical. You'd never lie to someone's face in person... so why do it in marketing? I will NEVER recommend "black hat" or FTC-violating, trust-violating marketing tactics.
Marketing should be FUN. While we do often work with professional services providers like lawyers, public adjusters, accountants, and so forth, we ask that your personality still be included. We don't do "faceless" marketing and we don't want cookie-cutter brand voice. Your clients should be able to tell your website and content is yours... and get a feel for what working with you is like before you get started.
